Thinking about an eBook? Lower the Gates

Interview of me at TippingPoint Labs about creating an eBook that spreads (talking about our recent eBook The Content Marketing Playbook). Remember to:

  • Lower the barriers for people to spread it
  • Develop the network of people that would be willing to share it
  • Make sure the content is best of breed

Not sure I agree 100% on totally ungated. I did that with How to Find New Customers but then switched to just an email address. I’m glad I did as I’ve harvested a huge list.

Hi Jeff…thanks for the comment. As always, it depends on the marketing objective. If your sole objective is to get lead information, then gate it. If your goal is to have your information be spread to the widest audience possible, don’t gate it.

Also, I’ve found that you can strategically place signups at certain portions of the free giveaway that will help make it successful from a lead gen standpoint.
